ROBERT GIGLIOTTI

Background and Education 

Born in New York City in 1959, moved to Los Angeles, California in 1978, Robert Gigliotti received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from Loyola Marymount University in 1986, and was a recipient of a Lewis A. Kingsley Scholarship. While employed full time, Mr. Gigliotti studied law during evenings classes and summers, at the University of La Verne, College of Law, and earned a Juris Doctor Degree in 1990. Admitted: 1991, California; U.S. District Court, Central District of California.

Organizations and Associations 

Robert Gigliotti is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the San Fernando Valley Bar Association and their family law sections and the Italian-American Lawyers Association: Woodland Hills Sunrise Little League Board of Directors – General Counsel and Challenger Division Coordinator; Active parent member at Chaminade College Preparatory.

Public and Community Service 

Understanding that a lawyer’s first responsibility is to help people, Mr. Gigliotti performs many hours of pro bono service for the Los Angeles Superior Court – Central and Northwest (1994-Present) as a Settlement Conference Officer.  ​

ELIN DARKALSTANIAN

Ms. Darkalstanian spent four years at the University of California, Irvine, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in both Political Science and Sociology. After graduating, Ms. Darkalstanian chose to enter the corporate world and diversify her profile prior to beginning her legal education. For almost four years, she was the youngest web developer on the Learning & Development team at the world’s largest food and beverage company, Nestlé USA -- producing training material on a national scale for one of its largest acquisitions. In 2012, Ms. Darkalstanian began law school at Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles. 

During the end of her second year of law school, Ms. Darkalstanian left her corporate job to immerse herself into the legal field. Ms. Darkalstanian clerked with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for two years while simultaneously attending law school in the evenings. During her time as a certified law clerk, Ms. Darkalstanian had as many as 15 court appearances, while under the direct supervision of a deputy district attorney. These appearances consisted of Ms. Darkalstanian conducting her own preliminary hearings, oral arguments, and opposing various suppression motions that consisted of direct and cross examining witnesses and law enforcement. 

After working in the public sector, Ms. Darkalstanian switched gears and entered the private sector during her last year of law school, and began working at a personal injury firm in downtown litigation. As a law clerk for the litigation department, she worked on cases ranging from auto accidents, slip and falls, conversion, and wrongful death. After graduating from Southwestern Law School and awaiting bar results, Ms. Darkalstanian continued civil work at an insurance defense litigation firm.  

Upon passing the California Bar in February 2017, Ms. Darkalstanian joined Gigliotti Law Group.  

AL CANITIA 

Mr. Canitia joined Gigliotti Law Group to provide consulting on coverages and insurance claims. In this role, he manages claims administration, bodily injury liability analysis, property loss analysis, litigation control, and conducts investigations and negotiations. In 2007, Mr. Canitia became a Certified Umpire to utilize his experience and knowledge in first-party claims from both the defense and plaintiff perspective to achieve final resolution.

Prior to 2008, Mr. Canitia was the manager of Claims Management Group, where he had an independent assignment with Citizens Property Insurance Corporation as first party litigation specialist, directing and managing defense counsel in the defense of litigated claims. Mr. Canitia earned his Bachelor of Science Degree at Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio. Additionally, he has attended special investigation and fraud training seminars to gain more knowledge in the realm of insurance claims.
